I missed the PEACE

Every year for Christmas my children would ask me what I wanted,   I would state very clearly "Peace on Earth."  Then I would follow it with "at least in my own house".  Please don't judge us - if you have a Christmas morning that landed on a Sunday, went to church and three family gatherings . . . you know exactly what I am talking about.  Mercy!   I needed a little bit of peace.

I kept asking for Peace.  FOR YEARS!  Years later, my son and daughter-in-law gave me a coat for Christmas and I was so excited - it was a pretty coat.  But they looked at me and said "Look at the box!"  In huge letters on the box was a painting of a dove and the words PEACE.  Well done.  I totally missed peace written right on the box because I was focusing on the present.  We recycled that box and gave "peace" back and forth for a couple of years.   

Recently I've realized that peace may be misunderstood by some of us and yes I do mean us, meaning me too.  Missing the words peace on that box was an example.  Am I totally missing the peace I can have because I am focusing on the present?  Am I too focused on the troubles of right now and forgetting the promises of peace God has desired for us?

While struggling with health issues related to PSa ,  I have found strength through my faith.  I have also found stronger faith.   I came to realize that while in the midst of a health crisis I found a peace that surpassed my own understanding.  

So I leave you with a few scriptures below and pray that you have the Peace with God and Peace of God. 

"If God be our God, He will give us peace in trouble.  When there is a storm without,  He will make peace within.  The world can create trouble in peace, but God can create peace in trouble."   THOMAS WATSON

John 16:33 New International Version (NIV) 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
